After joining Southeastern Physical Therapy in 1999, Darren eventually bought the business in 2003. Under his direction and management, Southeastern has grown from 1 clinic with 6 employees to 8 satellite clinics, 3 clinics contracted with Pardee Hospital and 106 employees. Of those 106 employees, over 50 are licensed providers that serve the residents of Buncombe County and the surrounding areas. Darren’s kindness and philosophy of making sure every patient receives the individualized plan of care they deserve regardless of insurance or personal situation is seen at all our locations. Every employee at Southeastern goes out of their way to make sure the patient gets the best care possible to make a full and complete recovery allowing them to get back to doing the things they love.

Blake has been with Southeastern for over 14 years. He has worked in outpatient rehabilitation of all age groups and backgrounds in the Western North Carolina area and now serves as the Clinical Director at Southeastern where he manages the entire clinical / provider staff. Blake has been an instrumental part our growth. Working directly with Darren, he helped establish most of our satellite clinics. Additionally, Blake worked in conjunction with the physicians and athletic trainers of Southeastern Sports Medicine to integrate a comprehensive Sports Medicine program for many schools in the region. Outside of work, he coaches at one of the Buncombe County High Schools.

Danielle Butler, PT, DPT
Danielle Butler PT, DPT earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Professions and Psychology from Grand Valley State University. She then went on to attend Duke University and graduated from Duke’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2013. She received her Trigger Point Dry Needling 1 Certification through Myopain. Danielle has been in practice since graduation with Southeastern Physical Therapy, is now lead PT at our Turtle Creek Location. She specializes in outpatient orthopedics including post operative care and sports injuries and performs treadmill running evaluations and gait analysis. Danielle, a Michigan native and previous multi-sport athlete, now enjoys living in the mountains, hiking, running and all outdoor sports/activities.
Lucas Pitman, PT
Lucas Pitman, PT is a 2010 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill with a major in Exercise and Sport Science and a minor in Coaching. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2013 from East Tennessee State University. Lucas is a Certified Kinesio-Taping Practitioner that allows him to apply several techniques to various injuries and conditions to people of all ages. Along with the general population, he works closely with local schools and athletes to provide a quick return to sport while optimizing performance and reducing injury recurrence.
Jarred Lehr PT, DPT
Jarred Lehr PT, DPT earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then went on to attend Western Carolina University and graduated from WCU’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program in 2017. His interests include pediatrics, orthopedics, and sports medicine. Jarred grew up in Hendersonville, NC and was a previous multi-sport athlete. He currently enjoys running, weightlifting, rock climbing, hiking, camping, and all outdoor sports and activities.
Jessica Dennison, PT, DPT, Certified Trigger Point Dry Needling Clinical Coordinator
Jessica Dennison, PT, DPT, received her B.S. in Biology at Erskine College in Due West, SC where she decided to pursue a career in physical therapy. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in May 2013 from East Carolina University. Since graduation, Jessica has worked in the outpatient orthopedic setting rehabilitating the general population. A more recent focus of hers’ has been treatment of myofascial pain utilizing manual therapeutic techniques, dry needling, and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. Jessica received her Trigger Point Dry Needling Certification in October 2015. She also has a keen interest in rehabilitating injured and post-operative shoulders. In the fall of 2015 she presented to sports medicine MDs, general practitioners, orthopedic surgeons, athletic trainers and physical therapists on the Rehabilitation of the Athlete’s Shoulder. Jessica has continued education in dry needling, rehabilitation of the athlete, and manual therapeutic techniques. Outside of work, Jessica loves spending time with her husband, Luke, and their dog, Riley. Her other passions include running, hiking and hitting up local Asheville spots with family and friends.
Phillip Adams PT, DPT, ATC
Phillip Adams PT, DPT, ATC is a Buncombe County native. He attended AB-Tech earning an Associate in Science. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training at Appalachian State University, graduating Cum Laude in 2009. Following graduation, Phillip worked as an Athletic Trainer for Southeastern Sports Medicine for 3 years providing outreach coverage to local middle and high school student athletes. Phillip returned to school and earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Tampa, FL graduating with Highest Honors in 2017. His history as a four sport athlete in high school and his background as an Athletic Trainer led to his primary interest in out-patient orthopedics and sports physical therapy. Phillip also has experience with treating BPPV (vertigo), balance dysfunction, and concussions.
Support Staff Supervisor / Marketing Coordinator
Ryan was born in Louisville, KY but has been an Asheville, NC area resident for 16 years . He graduated from Mars Hill College with a B.S. in Physical Education concentration in Sports Management and was a 4-year letterman in baseball (2004-2008). After his playing career ended, he went directly into coaching spending 1 season at Mars Hill following graduation and the next 7 seasons at Montreat College. Ryan Joined Southeastern Physical Therapy in 2016 as a Rehab Technician. He assumed the Events and Marketing Coordinator position in 2018 and in 2019 while continuing the role of Marketing Coordinator, Ryan took on the role of Support Staff Supervisor for all 11 SEPT locations. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and coaching the Carolina Day Varsity Baseball Team (since 2018).
After growing up in the Buffalo, NY area and becoming a Registered Nurse, Carolyn worked in Emergency Departments in Albany, NY and Camden, NJ. During her time in New Jersey, she earned her MS in Health Administration at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and eventually joined a Contract Research Organization to monitor and collect data for pharmaceutical drug trials. Carolyn moved to the Asheville area in 2005 and has worked at Southeastern PT since 2010. Currently, she processes medical record requests for all our Southeastern PT locations. Carolyn’s free time is spent attending grandchildren activities, volunteering at Manna Foodbank and gardening.
